'''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''' '''How to upgrade to ASPBite BasesStation V7.0 '''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''' 1> Backup your complete website! 2> Extract the zip and copy the new aspbite folder over your existing installation Note : your website will now crash, so... 3> run "aspbite/members/1upgrade.asp", this will upgrade the system wide stuff as well as members module, then ask you to log in. 4> Log in as your developer account (admin by default if you didnt change it) 5> Update each module in turn using the Modules Manager from the Members Area 6> Search for any new mods, and run the install scripts 7> Delete the "siteobjects" folder from your previous installation (and web hosting) as we no longer use soEditor in ASPBite, in favour a better solution (see below). NOTE : Don't do this if you have any custom mods or other applications that may still use it! There are a couple of things you should check. In previous updates the AtoZ and Template Changer settings were getting updated by upgrades. This has been fixed, but you may need to reset both one last time. Heres how: Edit any content and click on the AtoZ link. This will automatically reset the settings so links are made only to letters where there is content. In Members area click on Template Manager, tick all templates that you WANT to be used in this feature and Save the form. That will reset the relevant settings file. '''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''' '''Whats New In ASPBite BaseStation V7.0 '''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''' We are no longer using soEditor, rather bundling FCKeditor with the ASPBite BaseStation from now on (you have it with the upgrade). This alone brings a LOT of great new features to the system ; Image Upload to the webserver without the need for any components (such as ASPUpload, although this is still highly recommended for use in the Image Manager Module to upload multiple files). Image browsing from within the editor Spell Checking (uses ieSpell which is rather nice) Improved Smileys feature (is ON regardless of existing smiley settings for the old system, which is still in place for now at least). Paste as text feature Paste from WORD feature (nice!) Special Characters (such as copyright notice) Smaller footprint - although its made ASPBite bigger, overall much less space is taken on your hard disk, so not only is it better, its smaller, so in theory should mean pages load a bit quicker :) Few minor alterations, many of which were suggested in the forums. Ideally I would have had a few more things in but this version is going to go out on ".Net magazine" cover disc with a supporting Masterclass feature so I had a tight deadline. '''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''' '''Whats New In ASPBite BaseStation V6 to V6.2 '''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''' Forgot to document along the way so lots more than is listed here, but the major changes are the inclusion of the Quick Template Creator which allows you to get a live site up within minutes, from a possible 96 template combos, with facility for hundreds more as and when further template packs become available.
